It all started on my daughters birthday. She wanted a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and pink sprinkles, and she was NOT growing another year older until she had a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and pink sprinkles. (She’s a little bit of a diva.)

I was walking through the baking aisle at my tiny local grocer and paused to read the ingredient list on the chocolate cake mix. I didn’t know what half of these words were. Why couldn’t I pronounce these words? Is this even real food?

Why couldn’t I just find a recipe for chocolate cake and make my own? So I went back home and did just that. I found a recipe and made my very first cake from scratch. It was delicious!

I wanted to immediately bake something else! I decided to try Carrot Cake, but I wanted to tweak it and make it my own. Several test cakes later, I had it. The PERFECT Carrot Cake. Everyone loved it! It quickly became the requested desert for family and friend get togethers.

And now, well, here we are with all these cakes to bake! (wink, wink)
